Urban Farming

In 2015 Gwen graduated with honours from KU Leuven and obtained her masters degree in architecture. Her master thesis, designing a residential care center in Bolzano, was nominated for We Are The Next Generation 2015 because of its "economic revelance, its suitability for exhibition and the foresighted vision of the student project". It was exposed during de "Week van het Ontwerpen" ("Week of the Design") and published in the South Tyrolean architecture magazine "Turrisbabel". She started her intership at Crepain Binst Architecture, but moved quickly to a more bio-ecological focussed office. Personal tragedy caused her vision about sustainability to grow even more ambitious and she developed a new environmental aspiration for cities and the city dwellers within. Gwen talks about how urban farming could be used as a strategy to organise and feed the world, and by doing so making it a healthier, happier and more beautiful place.
